What an amazing season for our 5th grade girls as most of them played basketball for the first time ever in a team environment. While the struggles came early and often for the girls at the start of the season, our coaches did a great job of keeping their spirits high as they continued to learn the fundamentals of the sport. As they went into the final game of their season without a win, they still continued to give 100% of their effort and it finally paid off with a win!! This is a very well coached team, with a lot of natural athletiscm and a desire to learn the game, and most importantly they have a lot of fun being together with their teammates. St. Matthew is very proud of this group of girls and are looking forward to seeing their progression as 6th graders next year.

Our St. Matthew girls gave 100% of all they had in this game vs. an undefeated St. Ed's team, as we continue to learn the game. They played with great hustle up and down the court, and contested every shot the opponent took, not giving up any easy points. The scores don't always show it, but this team is playing as hard as any other team out there. With their natural athletic ability and the good coaching that we have helping them along the way, the wins are certain to come soon and come often for this group of determined girls.
