Both St.Matthew 6th grade boys teams ended their seasons with winning records!  The boys played extremely hard in all their games, giving 100% effort all the way through the season.  Congratulations to both head coaches, Coach Daun and Coach Duchniak and their assistants for working with the kids and making them better players today than they were at the start of the season.  As the kids continue to grow and mature into their game, you are going to see some really good basketball out of this group of players!

Divine Mercy Tournament

Both St. Matts 6th grade teams entered into the Divine Mercy tournament and both played very well.  With unfortunate losses in the 1st round, they both won their 2nd round games to get back in to the 5th / 6th place game vs. eachother!  In usual St. Matthew standards, the Divine Mercy gym was taken over by St. Matthew fans from all grade levels to cheer on both teams, and they weren't disappointed!  The lead bounced back and forth all game long until about 13 seconds left, when Gold pulled ahead for a 3 point lead and seemingly wrapped up the game.  After a Blue team timeout, Noah Daun caught a pass, stepped back, and drained a 3-pointer to tie the game with 8 seconds left and sent the gym into absolute chaos!  The last 8 seconds after that was very hectic, as Gold found Nathan Harvey in the lane for a clutch layup at the buzzer and a 2-point win.  This was definitely a win for St. Matthews School as both teams played very well.  The REMATCH will take place in a few short weeks on February 7 in their league game at 10:00am at Prairie!
