School Safety

At St. Matthew School we continue to prioritize safety enhancements throughout our building. A few years ago, we installed protective security film on our windows. This film is shatter-resistant, meaning it significantly slows forced entry and gives students and staff valuable time to take appropriate safety measures.

All classroom doors at St. Matthew open outward. This is an intentional safety design—an intruder cannot easily push or kick a door inward, which adds another important barrier of protection.

We have security cameras throughout our campus. All doors remained locked during the school day, and visitors need to buzz in and sign in at our school office.

We partner closely with local law enforcement, who have trained our teachers with best practices in case of emergency situations. Our students practice safety drills.

We will continue exploring safety improvements and are actively looking into relevant grants that can help us make long-term upgrades to our campus.
